A Washington, D.C., teacher has been named an Amazon Future Engineer Teacher of the Year. The tech company surprised Lynn Garnaat with a $50,000 prize to help her teach students at KIPP DC College Prep High School.

The Amazon Future Engineer Teacher of the Year Awards’ honor and recognize 10 all-star teachers working diligently to help students in underserved and underrepresented communities build life-changing skills to propel their futures in computer science. These teachers are focused on promoting diversity and inclusion in their computer science classrooms and beyond.
