Buyers have discovered Trinidad in NE, moving in at a frenzied pace. It offers inexpensive “transitional neighborhood” housing at gentrifying prices and the real estate market is jumping all in. The primary housing selection in Trinidad is rowhouses, many of them brightly colored creating a sunniness in the neighborhood. Their price points, while now still considered low compared to the rest of Washington, are on the rise as more people move in.
Beyond affordable housing stock, there are several other factors that make Trinidad attractive. Its proximity to downtown and the New York Avenue Metro station make it convenient for downtown commuters. The resurgence of neighboring H Street has been well-documented and some of the area’s reputation has rubbed off on Trinidad. Streetcar tracks are already being laid along H Street that would give Trinidad and the surrounding area direct access to another form of transit.
