The re-design of the Georgetown Canal is already receiving good marks from the public. Late last fall, James Corner Field Operations unveiled renderings and detailed concepts for a planned redevelopment of the mile-long stretch of the C&O Canal that winds through Georgetown.

Shortly thereafter, the National Park Service opened a survey to the public to solicit comments and feedback on the plans. Now, we are getting a first hint of the survey results. NPS and partner Georgetown Heritage are reporting that out of 551 respondents, 85 percent offered their approval of the design.

More detailed results of the survey should be coming out in the next few weeks, and UrbanTurf will report on those results when they become available.
