Philadelphia restaurateur Stephen Starr has a thing for New York’s formerly gritty meatpacking district — his first restaurants in that city, Buddakan and Morimoto, are there — and he was drawn to Union Market’s similar vibe for his next D.C. project, a location of Brooklyn restaurant St. Anselm with fellow restaurateur Joe Carroll.

But Starr is also looking to bring another piece of Manhattan history to D.C.: The restaurateur said Friday he’s looking for a space to open a location of Pastis here, possibly in Adams Morgan.
