What Will the Amazon HQ2 Campus Look Like?

While Amazon busily builds its campus and the region welcomes them to the area, at JETMA, we are often asked what the complex will include when complete. This is what we can share with you…

The campus will be created of all sustainable LEED platinum-certified buildings. What this means is that there will be 2.1 million square feet of energy-efficient office buildings with state-of-the-art workspaces and green outdoor terraces in two 22-story towers. By 2030, the new headquarters will run on 100% renewable energy.

There will be a large variety of street-level retail shops and restaurants. 65,000 square feet has been committed as a space for new retail shops, restaurants and a daycare center for area residents and Amazonians.

Also in the plan is 1.1 acres of new public open space, which are being designed for a variety of uses. A dog park, recreation area, farmers market, and other outdoor amenities are part of the plan. This is meant to, according to Amazon, “help to realize the community’s vision for a large, centrally-located park.”

Bike facilities will be built into the campus too. There will be space for 600 bikes in on-site bike facilities In addition, the plan calls for the construction of more than a half mile of new protected bike lanes along South Eads and 15th Streets to help link Arlington’s cycling infrastructure.
